ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

Succession Planning. Whether planned or unplanned, losing an executive director creates a worst case scenario for many boards, conjuring up ominous feelings of uncertainty, risk, and time consuming efforts.  While we know change is bound to happen, it’s often difficult to plan for a strong transition in leadership.

Join us for a high level discussion about succession planning, also known as leadership transition.  We will remove the mystery around this important part of organizational work and look at steps to plan for a successful and effective transition.

We will delve into topics of participant interest that may include:

  • Founder transition
  • Board preparation and engagement
  • Using an interim director
  • Executive director responsibilities
  • Generational change

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Ann Schrader has worked in the nonprofit sector for 20 years.  As an executive director for three organizations, and long-time consultant to many more, she is familiar with the importance for succession planning.  Ann thrives on opportunities that change brings and encourages others to take the leap and appreciate the experience.
