Melinda Winegardner is the Co-founder of Winegardner’s Wines. Born and raised in western New York, she moved west right after college and has lived in Bozeman since 1974. Before she married Kurt and obtained a new-found interest in the wine business, she spent her days as a potter for over 20 years. When Winegardner’s Wines was born, she began to devote every day to the business. Old world wines, particularly French wines, are her favorite. “The wine business is a wonderful combination of work and play. I enjoy the challenges, travel, and relationship opportunities that Winegardner’s has given me,” says Melinda.

Briana Lucas, Melinda’s daughter in law, joined the business in 2012.Briana was already a wine lover. After eleven years in apparel and textiles importing, Briana made a change to the wine industry. For her, the opportunity to move back to Montana to join Winegardner’s and become part of the wine world was an exciting new adventure. Briana has found that her experiences from the importing world are very similar to the ever-changing dynamics in the wine business, so it’s been a natural transition. As someone who loves to learn, and with wine there is always something to learn, her passion for wine grows daily. It’s managing the moving parts and the problem solving of the business that gets her up in the morning, and of course, the opportunity to experience the nuances and beauty of the wines help too! Since joining her in-laws at Winegardner’s Wines she has never looked back and is now a partner in the business with Melinda.
